Healthy Start

The Student and Family Wellness Hotline provides support with mental health; accessing food, health insurance, and other basic needs; school enrollment; immunizations and more. 

The helpdesk is open 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. Please call (213)241-3840 for support.

Healthy Start strives to alleviate barriers to learning by linking or connecting student, family and community needs to resources, giving special consideration to low income students, English language learners, and foster youth.

The Healthy Start Program is at Hazeltine Elementary School!

Healthy Start is designed to serve children, youth, their family members and the community. The program provides comprehensive school-integrated services and activities to meet the desired results identified in the areas of: 

  • Academics
  • Youth Development
  • Family Support
  • Basic Needs 
  • Physical and Mental Health Care 

Healthy Start links students. families, and community members to:

  • Basic need resources like food, shelter, clothing, transportation and legal assistance.
  • Medical, dental and vision services that are free or low cost.
  • Mental health counseling as well as academic support and tutoring.
  • Many other services!
